Juan C. Bernardo will continue to practice immigration law only, while Stephen C. Herman will concentrate in the following areas:

After one year at Syracuse Law School, Stephen Herman entered the Peace CORPS in 1971 and was assigned to work in the Dominican Republic for two years as an accountant / promoter in credit and savings cooperatives. He resumed his legal studies at Hostra Law School in 1973 and graduated in 1975. Stephen was admitted to practice law in the states of New York and New Jersey and worked for one year for south Brooklyn Legal Services on Landlord / Tenant matters and for four years with Nassau Suffolk Law Services providing legal services to indigent persons' in civil matters. In June of 1980, he went into private practice with a concentration in Immigration Law. In June of 2005, Stephen formed a law partnership with Juan Carlos Bernardo, known as Herman & Bernardo, which dissolved on January 1, 2014 due to his retirement from the practice of Immigration Law. Stephen Herman presently maintains a solo practice and concenrates in areas of criminal, traffic, real estate, social security disability, uncontested divorces, and personal injury.
Juan Carlos grew up in Kings Park, New York. Juan Carlos studied at the State University of New York Cortland (SUNY) where he graduated in 1989. He attended the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, CA where he earned a doctorate in Juris Doctorate. Juan Carlos returned to New York in 1999 where he worked in the firm Bendik & Nanos, specializing in immigration matters. In June 2005, he began working with the Stephen Herman. Juan is bilingual English-Spanish and is a member of the New York chapter of AILA (American Immigration Lawyers Association).
Mr. Bernardo has experience in most areas of immigration, such as changes to resident status, consular processing, change of temporary to permanent residence, the court hearings in deportation cases, NACARA, TPS, nursing homes, forgive and more.
